Bob Dylan - Must Be Santa (Video)
This will be a very subjective review. Cause even though I cannot deny Dylan’s talent as a poet, I’ve never seen him as a talented singer, or as the genius some want him to be. So let’s see him as a comedian for the moment.
If you fancy a good laugh during the festive season and a song, its lyrics you will be able to remember even after various litres of mulled wine, search no longer, you’ve found your entertainment. A staggering Dylan sporting what appears to be a “long bob haircut” and a selection of hats, including a white top hat, staggers through a decorated house full of dancing, dressed up people that sing along.
Unlike the jolly folk and the band consisting of a drummer and a accordion player, Dylan looks amazingly uninterested even as he’s being dragged away to dance. As the video reaches its climax when one protagonist starts throwing glasses and running around, Dylan’s miming stays astonishingly bad, just like his movements, finding its highlight in him and Santa himself standing outside, watching the troublemaker run off.
I’m almost tempted to say that it’s so shit, it’s genius.
