The Beat Surrender

I think Albert Hammond Jr has surprised everyone with his solo album Yours To Keep, nobody expected the shy member of The Strokes to step out from the shadows of his band and produce the type of album he has, let alone be the focal point of it all.

But step out he has and in some style, this is something that he has taken into the live arena as well having seen him on Friday night in Leeds I can confirm that the album translates just as well live. One of the undoubted highlights of that night though was the forthcoming single and one that could potentially provide him with a chart hit.

101 has the sort of infectious chorus that screams hit at you everytime you hear it. Not to mention the much rotated video that see’s him gradually losing limbs (I know it’s just careless isn’t it!) on his strange journey.

The single is released on the 27th November.
