The Shadow Project - A Beauty To Fight For

Not sure why but when this album was plucked from my pile of post to listen to, I took one look at the cover, had a quick scan over the accompanying press blurb and had a real feeling I was going to love this. It wasn’t just the fact that it was beautifully packaged or even that they had a huge range of instruments used on here (which always appeals to me), I just loved the name and the promise of huge soundscapes.

Now you could say i’m easily bought, but when people talk of huge soundscapes and a laid back vibrancy it makes me think of people like Sigur Ros. The Shadow Project do have their moments and you can’t help but admire the way the album has been put together, for me though it just lacks a bit of zip in places to keep your attention.

A Beauty To Fight For is out now on NR One Records.
