Fields - Album Sampler
Fields are quite possibly my favourite new band to emerge in the last six months, a position that was consolidated in November last year on the MTV2 Spanking New Music Tour.
The three singles in 2006 all had a different majestic quality to them, the harmonius Song From The Fields being an instant summer anthem for me before delivering the equally brilliant If You Fail We All Fail at the end of the year.
This five track promo is designed to give us a taster of what to expect from the debut long player which is due soon. Song For The Fields features and is followed by the dreamy Feathers. You Don’t Need This Song (To Fix Your Broken Heart) would sound twee in the hands of lesser talents but Fields carry it off.
Skulls And Flesh And More starts off with the twittering of morning birds, before the guitar and drums take over, the song builds perfectly to a very harmony driven pop sound that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Magic Numbers album.
The other track on here is the afore mentioned If You Fail We All Fail, it could be my most eagerly awaited album release of this year now that Husky Rescue have got theirs out in January. The album is released on the 2nd April entitled Everything Last Winter and is proceeded by a single Charming The Flames a week before.
