Broken Dolls - Any Other Day / What The Hell
I’ve heard of the Broken Dolls before, but never heard them if that makes any sense, the reason i’d heard of them is because they are supposed to be a very good live act, with a number of people championing them on music forums.
My first impression of them on Any Other Day, is that they are competent and confident in equal measure, with a nod to some of the darker more miserable eighties bands (miserable in mood not talent), it’s a decent enough track but it doesn’t set them apart.
It’s the second track on here that I love, the more plaintive and pleading What The Hell, yes it might be a slightly easier track on the ear and yes it might be simpler in construction, but this has allowed the emotion to come out in the track and it’s a lot better for it.
The single is released on Southern Fried Records.
