asbestoscape - asbestoscape
I tend to find with a lot of post-rock instrumental stuff that I get sent, that it is unbelievably pretentious, to the point that it’s more like the artist is using the instruments to pleasure themselves, they have no consideration for the person who has to listen to this ‘musical sexperience’.
Occasionally though a Cd will drop through my door that features instrumental rock and manages to avoid this well worn musical cliche and instead comes up with an intelligent, atmospheric listen that leaves you wanting a lot more from them.
One such CD landed on my doormat recently, asbestoscape (insisting on the lower case ‘a’ is as pretentious as this CD gets luckily), a seven track mini album, beautifully pieced together by Luke Shaw. The instrumentation is fantastic and the music isn’t too cluttered, the breathing space gives the music chance to grow on you with each listen and was perfect for me as I sat in my little room typing out a few reviews.
The mini album is available now from cdbaby.com, cdunsigned.com and can also be downloaded from itunes.
