Jon Jones And The Beatniks Movement - Attack
Local band (Bradford) Jon Jones And The Beatniks Movement have been building up a loyal following in the city for a while now and are now starting to try and raise their profiles in other cities with gigs in the coming months.
To help them do that they’ve put together Attack, a three track demo CD, which is currently being sent to various promoters around Yorkshire. First up is Scum, a song that in the pluck of a guitar string changes from a brooding Joy Division meets Magazine track, into a fast paced spiralling guitar rocker that is worthy of a full single release.
The second track Attack maintains the pace of its predecessor and is built around the strangulated New-Wave vocal of lead singer Joe Ralph. The final track is the pounding and slightly shorter (2:41) Disaster. The only criticism of this demo is that it hasn’t been mastered properly by the sound engineer, this is something that the band are rectifying as we speak though.
This three tracker does give you a good indication of the raw power and urgency that they take into their live shows, if you are interested in booking the band then they can be contacted through their website (see link to the right).
