Annuals - Be He Me
Annuals are something of an odd young bunch looking at their Myspace site, that though is no bad thing especially when that quirkyness finds it’s way so compellingly into the actual music.
Be He Me has been available on import since the back end of last year but is now finally getting a full release in the UK through Virgin Records. It’s a very brave album and it’s an interesting one as things swiftly move from one soundscape to another, all wrapped up with some lush harmonies.
Favourite tracks for me were the recent single Brother, the epic Sway which weighs in at a whopping seven minutes and The Bull And The Goat which had a melody that I recognised from another song (or at least similar) I just can’t put my finger on what it actually is for now.
Annuals won’t appeal to everyone but they are a talented young band who offer something a little different away from the mainstream, if you like any of the tracks i’ve mentioned that certainly consider getting the album, which is out now.
