Buraka Som Sistema - Black Diamond

Portugal hasn’t exactly had a huge impact on the UK music scene, in fact that is probably a massive understatement really as I can’t off the top of my head think of a single act that has (i’m not counting Nelly Furtado by the way).

Buraka Som Sistema aren’t about to buck the trend as far as album sales go, but they are going to gain a great deal of respect and i’m pretty sure they’ll go down a storm in some of the clubs over here.

They fuse dance, with afro-beat, breakbeat, hip-hop and just about anything else that has got a pulse beating through it, sometimes they are just good, but on tracks like Yah!, Sound Of Kuduro, Kalembe (Wegue-Wegue) and Skank & Move they really knock down doors with some aplomb.

If they are leading an invasion, then not only will it be welcome if they are all as good as these, they’ve also laid down a solid beach head with Black Diamond.
