Served Up By Phat Kev - Brazilian Beats ‘N Pieces
The Mr Bongo label has become a key record label in the UK for introducing people to the joys of world music and one of the biggest beneficeries of this has to be Brazilian music.
This boom in listening to Brazilian music in this country is not just down to Mr Bongo, Bebel Gilbert has brought it into the mainstream and DJ wise nobody has done more than Giles Peterson to populise it. On this mix compilation though it’s not Peterson on the mixer it’s Phat Kev who even at the tender age of 22 has now been spinning tracks for 9 years already and has competed in the DMC World DJ Championship.
The 50 minute mix CD is packed full of sizzling South American flava, each and every track could be played at home at a party or in a bar somewhere, or could soundtrack you lazing by the pool on holiday on your ipod. If you want an introduction to Brazilian dance music and want to avoid the drum and bass sound that is very popular over there then this could be the compilation for you.
Brazilian Beats ‘N Pieces Served Up By Phat Kev is out on the 16th July.
