O'Death - Broken Hymns Limbs & Skins

Broken Hymns Limbs & Skins is the third album from O’Death, a five-piece New York group who rather than taking the usual wired darkness of bands like Interpol and The Strokes, instead picked up a banjo, a ukulele, piano, a fiddle and a trombone.

The result is a kind of discordant hillbilly party album, one that I can imagine the inbred locals in the film Deliverance dancing to as they prepared to stalk and kill the weekender adventurers.

Certainly not my kind of thing and hard to imagine who it will appeal to, that though doesn’t make it a bad album of course, far from, it’s really well played and part of me actually quite likes it on the quiet.
