David Saw - Buy My Record
With his latest single Buy My Record (out now on IRIS Records) singer/songwriter David Saw has put out what many would describe as bouncy feel good summer sing-along tune. It skiffles along with walking bass lines and honky tonk piano, but lyrically ‘Buy My Record’ falls short.
Instructing the listener to’buy my record from a record store’, is presumably a dig at the digital download age, and whilst the inoffensive chorus complete with harmonies nods to great songwriters of the 60’s, it’s got no real substance. Some Love is a slower acoustic arrangement, but offers nothing to differentiate Saw from his contemporaries. Both tracks are lifted from his latest album Broken Down Figure.
