Yael Meyer - Common Ground

Well first off apologies to Yael Meyer because i’ve now had this CD for a good six weeks since it was lovingly packed up and despatched out to me for my listening pleasure. Unfortunately the life of full time worker, part time reviewer is not always a straightforward one.

Anyway I have finally got round to listening to this over the last day or two and is the way with these things it was more than worth the wait. Everything about the album is organic sounding, it’s got a real freshness to it’s chilled out vibes edging beautifully between ambient folk and chilled vocals.

One listen to the opening track The Beauty Of It All has you completely hooked and you never look back after that, be it the title track Common Ground or the sullen gorgeousness that is Alone I loved every second of it.

It could all be so simple, but you'd rather make it hard, loving you is like a battle and we both end up with scars. -- Lauryn Hill
