Bonobo - Days To Come
When it comes to producing quality and consistent electronic music Simon ‘Bonobo’ Green has to be right up at the very top of the list (along with a few others, i’m not suggesting he’s the best out on his own).
His latest album Days To Come is another cracker, slightly more down tempo in the beats department than either Dial M For Monkey or Animal Magic. The only real exception to this being the jazz-tronica-funk of On Your Marks, which sounds a lot like Quantic (Soul Orchestra).
The rest of the album is a brooding masterpiece of instrumental and vocal tracks split roughly down the middle. The vocals are provided on the whole by Bajka who gives a whispy quality to tracks like Days To Come, Between The Lines and Walk In The Sky. The best track on the album though is probably the one that features fellow Ninja Tune label mate Fink. His understated vocals work brilliantly with Bonobo’s moody music on If You Stayed Over.
