The Beat Surrender

The kids are ‘buzzing’ right now, you can see them on streets everywhere in their skinny jeans, trainers and day-glo hoodies with ever more horrific, migraine inducing designs.

Pourquoi?

I’ll tell you why, because Hadouken! Are about to release their debut album in the next week or so and they seem to be a band that only the kids could ever hope to ‘get’ and find cool, they aren’t designed for us adults.

I don’t mean that in a patronising way either, I also don’t belittle their music by saying that. What I mean is that to me it all sounds a little bit mixed up on Declaration Of War, a bit jumbled, part aggressive and threatening, part soft and vulnerable, part bleepy dance that has been done so much better before, part joyful pop that hasn’t.

I get the feeling they could be this years marmite band.
