Dead Wasps - Demo
As you should by know with this site we like to do our bit to support the best unsigned bands as well as the Coldplay’s of this world.
A while back I told you a little bit about a three piece called Dead Wasps whose demo had just landed on my doormat. I knew little about them until this point but was suitably impressed with the demo to proclaim that I could see label interest coming there way in the near future.
Well good news and bad news folks with the latest clutch of tracks that have made their merry way to Le Maison Kev (apologies to our French readers with that one). The band are now down to two having parted company with Mikey, artistic differences is a common problem and it seems that this is the case here. The good news is that labels like Capitol are now sniffing around the band, so maybe ‘Mystic Kev’ wasn’t wrong (for once).
Right your up to date with the gossip, now on with the music, we are after all a music mag and not OK Magazine. The new demo see’s four new tracks put down by the Wasps and again finds them in very good form. Fading features a dirty bass groove to die for, In A Hot Room is a more downtempo dance ballad, Ward 21 is a repetitive epic that goes round your head ten minutes after it’s finished, the best though is saved till last.
Do You Remember? is a piano led track that I can only really describe as sounding like something you’d get in a scene in a Gangster film set in the 1920’s, the bit where the gangster walks into a smokey nightclub and looks up at the beautiful blonde on stage singing. The song they would be singing is this one and it’s f*ckin brilliant.
Keep up the good work please just try to keep hold of your current members, it could get a bit lonely with none of you in the band!
