Exile Parade - Demo
The first time I have wanted to give five stars to anything I have reviewed, this offering came from this five-piece band Exile Parade who are based in Warrington/Greater Manchester. Last year they released a double A side which featured tracks 3 and 4 from this demo.
First up was Still Number One, this had a really catchy feel to it, reminded me of very early Oasis. Next track was Bicycle Thieves, this was a slightly heavier rock track, strong Mancunian accent throughout, sounded a lot like The Who or Rolling Stones from the 60’s. Was single material but bet its great live.
Next up was Get Your Gun Boy, starts with good sound effects, a little of the folk influence, however a Manc singing with a cowboy accent doesn’t make it folk! It just makes it very interesting. It’s a really unusual track at first hearing I wasn’t sure but it really grew on me, its another track I imagine really gets them going when done live.
The last track Fire Walk With Me, starts with guitar feedback, really rock and roll!!!. Another track which bought back memories of early Oasis and its not just the accent, it’s the passion they play with. All in all great music really well put together, I can understand why many of the other reviews are saying this is a band to watch out for. Well worth a listen if you like your rock with the best of the 60s influences (Kinks, The Who and Rolling Stones etc. but with a bang up to date sound. LOVED IT
