Breakin Bread - Dirtybeatbreakinfunk&hiphop

Hope for us here at The Beat Surrender yet if we could ever get ourselves organised enough! Skeg and Rob Life started Breakin’ Bread as a club night back in 1998 and have gradually grown things until it has blossomed into a full blown record label.

The first compilation they released was The Deadly 7” Sins which sold over 10,000 copies and have now decided to bring together the best singles on the label since 2001, with the release of ultra cool compilation Dirtybreakinfunk&hiphop.

The album starts off with the young DJ IQ who has scratched on a number of the singles on here, fuses hip-hop funk and soulful moments, before climaxing with one of two Natural Self tracks on here Foundation pt2. The highlights for me are provided by Nostalgia 77 who i’ve always had a lot of time for and Ghost who released the excellent Seldom Seen Often Heard album at the start of last year.
