Hot Chip - DJ-Kicks
Hot Chip are a strange old band at the best of times (although I do like them) so i’m not sure how they have gone about either choosing the tracks for this DJ-Kicks mix album or how they have actually mixed it. Either way it isn’t a bad collection.
The mixing is seamless, which is what you want really on this sort of compilation and the music is fairly varied with a leaning if any type towards electronica and 80’s tracks. There are the odd gem on here which is exactly what makes these albums worthwhile, the Shep Pettibone mix of New Order’s Bizarre Love Triangle is brilliant, On Just Foot by Black Devil Disco Club is a belter and i’d forgotten just how damn good Steppin’ Out by Joe Jackson is.
The album is released through K7 on the 28th May, the Hot Chip single featured on the album is released on the 4th June called My Piano.
