Black Grass - Don’t Leave Me This Way

A couple of years ago Black Grass released their selftitled debut album on Catskills Records and it quite simply blew me away, it fused the best bits of UK hip-hop, with soul, jazz and funk breaks and in a nutshell offered something completely different.

So it’s nice to welcome back the Brighton duo with a soon to be released second album and this the first single taken from it. Don’t Leave Me This Way is essentially a cover version, that said though it’s a complete reworking and is transformed into a f*cked up soul track with weird organ moments.

It doesn’t sound on paper like it should work, but as with the first album it looks like the lads have hot the nail on the head again. Also worth checking out is the awesome JStar Remix and Dub.
