The Low Miffs - Earl Grey / This Is The New

Formed in 2004, based in Glasgow a five piece made up of Leo Condie, Peter Webster, Thomas Brogan, Rory Clark and James Murdock and they have supported Fire Engines, The Charlatans, The Horrors and The Blood Arm.

Well written and performed but not exceptional, Earl Grey was a little slow for me but good lyrics which occasionally built to a good frenzy of crashing drums and guitars. This Is The New is faster and in my opinion the better of the two tracks. However not sure the style is going to get them noticed. You need something which will make you stand out from the crowd and this was camouflage music, it sounds much like a hundred other bands trying to get national recognition. For the moment they may need to be content with being named as one of Scotland’s hottest bands by the BBC in Scotland.
