Sergio Mendes - Encanto
Sergio Mendes returns to the type of music and form that I pefer with his latest album Encanto, released in the UK in June this year through UCJ.
Having worked with Will.I.Am on his last album it’s no surprise to see him turning up on a couple of the tracks on here either, pleasingly though Funky Bahia is a solid track that still gets outshone by most of the other collaborations on here and Agua De Beber tones down his contribution.
The two highlights for me are Somewhere In The Hills that features Natalie Cole and the superb Catavento that see’s Sergio’s partner Gracinha Leporace steal the show. A very summer based album that fuses Latin, Funk , Soul and Hip-Hop..it’s just a shame we haven’t got the weather to coincide with it.
