Exile Parade - EP
Still Number One for me is just so catchy it should be getting massive airplay on national radio.
I reviewed this band earlier in the year when I was relatively new to this reviewing lark. I must say that I loved them then and still do. This is rock/pop/indie (call it what you want) at its very best. It has all the ingredients you need, great guitars, pounding beat, wonderful vocals and not only a catchy chorus but lots of oohs repeated over and over which stick in your head. Even my young daughters love it and have asked me to play the ooh song over and over, so perhaps in my house Exile Parade may have there youngest and oldest fans!
Bicycle Thieves is much more on the side of rock, shades of Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones. The track is included on the DVD of the E4 hit show Skins. For me excellent Blues Rock track which again could and should get national airplay.
Next track was Get Your Gun Boy, the intro starts with a second or two of guitar feedback but then moves to what could be described as a country track, with really strong rock style guitars. The vocals are very Americanised but really show that this band is not one-dimensional, they have great versatility. Fire Walk With Me is the last track on the EP, the intro starts with a distant sounding wall of guitars which gradually gets louder, combined with rounding drums, style wise and vocally reminded me of early Oasis, raw energy pumping through the track from beginning to end.
The band has just been signed to feature on the soundtrack to the new film by Danny Roane, “First Time Director” which stars Jack Black and Ben Stiller. If this doesn’t help get them signed god knows what will, I’ll stick my neck on this one and say THIS BAND WILL BE BIG (I hope).
