Plastic Heroes - Escape The Lower End
Plastic Heroes seem to have caught the attention of a lot of people in the business in the six years they have been together, playing to big crowds in America as support to Madjuana (Sami Yaffa – New York Dolls) as well as supporting the likes of Bloc Party, The Subways, Art Brut and Silversun Pickups.
Aside from the gigs they’ve also had production from Gordon Raphael who has worked with The Strokes, been given single of the week on XFM for their limited and now sold out single The Boy and have also gathered a decent following in France.
Their debut album Escape The Lower End is a bit of a mixed affair for me that doesn’t come close to justifying the hype. While sometimes they rise above average on their new-wave meets pop tracks, all too often they lose themselves and ultimately us the listener within their songs, that seem to lack a real direction and hook.
