The Isles - Eve Of The Battle

I’ve been sitting on this one by The Isles for a while now, trying to ponder the influences that have gone into making this single what it is. The press release tries its best in that it describes it as Americana meets Brit Pop, which although a fair stab doesn’t do it justice.

Don’t worry this isn’t me getting bihg headed, no far from it, i’m afraid I can’t really describe it either! Eve Of The Battle is a magical piece of understated guitar pop that veers between the chiming guitar of The Strokes (no surprise really as they are also New Yorkers) and the melodic alternative melody of somebody like Guided By Voices or Death Cab For Cutie and thats as good as I get i’m afraid.

One thing I can definitely tell you though is that the single is out on the 20th February on Melodic Records and is backed by the b-side Flying Under Cheap Kites which is also rather lovely.
