Magnet, aka Even Johansen has got to be the most underrated singer songwriter around at the moment. On Your Side was the fantastic debut album that alerted us to this Norwegian talent and The Tourniquet successfully followed that up this year to confirm what a shining star he should be considered within this genre.

It’s on those albums that you get to fully immerse yourself in his world of lo-fi chill out tracks, that are mixed with sweeping orchestration and bittersweet lyrics. Even on the b-side to this single you get a wonderful track called This Bird Can Never Fly, which contains lyrics such as “Who’s gonna let you down if I don’t...” and “I don’t need to be in your shoes / to see that i’m not much to lose”.

Don’t let this melancholy brilliance pass you by, the single isn’t likely to get airplay and you aren’t going to see him on Top Of The Pops, take a gamble, take a chance, buy the albums and I promise you won’t be disappointed.
