Leann Rimes - Family

Leann Rimes can sing and i’m sure there are some people out there who love her pop take on country music, I can’t however see her appealing to the Nashville hardcore having sat through her latest album Family.

The painful thing for me (aside from the slightly whiny vocal) is the fact that far more talented country singers like Laura Cantrell don’t even get a look in on the mainstream party, such though is the music industry, particularly in America.

The one redeeming factor of this album is that she has reintroduced her country sound having spent the last couple of albums trying to compete with Britney and Jessica Simpson she’s back on more familiar ground, the ballads are passable efforts, the duets though and cringingly bad particularly when Bon Jovi joins proceedings towards the end of the album.
