Pagan Wanderer Lu - Fight My Battles For Me

Pagan Wanderer Lu certainly isn’t going to appeal to everyone that’s for sure, but he’ll certainly find a place in the CD collection of anyone who has a soft spot for music on the twee side with good lyrics.

His music seems to inhabit a World where the Casio keyboard is God and lo-fi folk comes a close second (I guess that makes lo-fi folk sort of Jesus or something), to begin with on Fight My Battles For Me i’m absolutely charmed by it.

Tracks like Anger Management, The Gentleman’s Game and Good Christian / Bad Christian are dynamic and feature some brilliant wordplay. The downside to the album though comes with it’s length, at over an hour and fifteen tracks, it’s probably three songs too long, although Millionaires Need People Like You is a neat finish to an album with a lot of potential that unfortunately tails off slightly.
