Flobots - Fight With Tools

I wasn’t over keen on the recent Flobots single Handlebarsm so I wasn’t overly optimistic about the ensuing album either, it has though turned out to be nowhere near as painful experience as I imagined.

It’s a very politicised album with frequent attacks on the US Government and their policy in Iraq being the key subjects, now that is nothing new of course in music as a lot of people have been inspired by the incompetency of the Bush administration, Flobots though seem to be the one band who have emo/rock leanings (albeit mixed in with hip-hop influences) who are vocalising this, so if they get their message across to a new group of music fans then all well and good.

Musically they hit the high spots on tracks like Mayday!!!, Stand Up, Fight With Tools, Never Had It and The Rhythm Method (Move), unfortunately they do let themselves down with the single, Rise and Iraq. I’d take these any day though over Fall Out Boy and the rest of ‘em.
