The Dodos - Fools
The Dodos released a second single from their critically acclaimed album Visiter recently and as you would expect it’s another pearler.
Fools has a slightly ramshackle feel about it, in the same way that Belle And Sebastian have that way of making it sound as if they are surprised by what direction the song is going in themselves, The Dodos never sound 100% in control of what is happening.
That isn’t a criticism, far from it and I never love that looseness more than when the vocal says (I think) “left our failure” which to me at first sounded like they are singing about “Darth Vader”…see a good song could have been even better with a mere mention of everyone’s favourite from the Dark Side.
