Sugababes - Girls
Is it the Sugababes finest moment? Nope not by a long shot, but it is another classy pop single from the most successful girl group of the millennium, that shows they can still churn out fantastic tracks no matter how often they change the line up or age away from the typical teenage fan you would expect to buy this sort of thing.
Girls is the ‘girl power’ anthem that the Spice Girls never got round to writing, playing on their appeal and strength of character in the lyrics “Slipping on my little black dress, 5 inch heels I’m bound to impress, turn it up I’m a little temptress…” and “We got the goods to run the show, don’t let nobody tell you nothing, you’re in control”.
The remixes are instantly forgettable on the b-sides, but there version of the Smokey Robinson song Don’t Let Go isn’t at all bad. The single is out now through Island Records.
