Nine Black Alps - Glitter Gulch EP
This is something of a stop gap release from Nine Black Alps. A release intended as a thank you to the fans who have snapped up over 50,000 copies of their debut album Everything Is as well as ensuring that they stay in peoples minds while they are off touring the States.
At the end of the day though whatever the reason for the release, you get six good tracks at a decent price, yes our of them have been released before as 7” b-sides but this is their first time on CD and you also get two brand new tracks thrown in as well.
Things start off with standard bluster from them on Over The Ocean and to a degree its the same on Llana Song. Things go up a notch though quality wise on the next four tracks. Attraction, String Me Along, Never Coming Down and Coldhearted are far more introspective and simpler thanks to the quiter style.
Its a side of them we’ve seen before on the album but the message is reinforced here, they can play it loud, they can play it quiet, either way they can play. Glitter Gulch EP is out now.
