The Beat Surrender

This Global Noize album is the brainchild of DJ Logic and Jason Miles who had hooked up together previously for a couple of gigs, having been long term friends and inspired by the success of these collaborations, opted to take this beyond being a thing they talked about, to actually doing.

There vision and determination to make this work is essentially our gain, they’ve delivered a rich and diverse album that incorporates elements of World Music into every track, part in thanks to the number of musicians they’ve brought on board from around the world and an electronic essence that fuses so well together.

I had this CD on last night while I was typing up a couple of reviews, it sits perfectly in the background, in your head enough to realise your foot is tapping along in appreciation of the music but without being intrusive in any way. The thing that got under my skin more than anything is the funky rhythms that seem to be drawn from jazz influences.

Well worth checking out.
