3 Daft Monkeys - Go Tell The Bees EP
Go Tell The Bees is the latest single from 3 Daft Monkeys. Unusual style neither folk, reggae, Celtic, Balkan, gypsy, Latino or Cornish just a bit of everything all mixed up together, it really shouldn’t work…but it does!
The opening track is Go Tell The Bees, is very folk influenced rock, easy to listen to with nice use of fiddle and guitars. Paranoid Big Brother is faster great witty lyrics. The fiddle and the vocal harmonies lean towards folk but the lyrics and the beat gave it a punk sound. Liked this track, really different. I bet these are a fun band to see live. Next track is Social Vertigo, very folksy with a hint of the Balkan, still with the witty lyrics, this time Aphene Roberts shares the vocals with Tim Ashton. A fun track but not perhaps as strong as the first two tracks. Tracks 1 to 3 are all taken from their forthcoming album to be called Social Vertigo. The last track is from a previous album call Hubbadillia and is called Astral Eyes (remastered for the promo) Long whistle intro, gives a very Celtic feel to the track, strong beat.
Overall not bad, different enough to keep me interested not sure about the saleability but I wouldn’t mind seeing them perform I get the feeling this is where this band will come into there own, sounds great fun.
