The Beat Surrender

I wasn’t a huge fan of The Delays when they first burst onto the scene five or six years ago, their jangly pop melodies didn’t really do much for me and the fact that indie girls seemed more fascinated by their looks than their sound kind of grated as well. Yeah I know I’m a sucker for a pretty girl in a band before anyone chimes up, but I still judge them on the music ultimately.

Things though did go up a notch with me and The Delays when they released the Love Made Visible EP before this single, I really liked the tracks and was pretty optimistic for the forthcoming album Everything’s The Rush.

Hooray though is a big disappointment, it sounds over produced and is a little cheesy for me, trying too hard to be the big hit single to re-launch the band. Fingers crossed for the album which I’ll be reviewing shortly, but this isn’t the best of starts to a comeback.
