Hope&Social - Hope&Social EP

Hope&Social are the latest talented band to emerge from Leeds, giving us the first glimpse of what their debut album may sound like with the release of the Hope&Social EP on Alamo Music.

While their hearts and souls may be in West Yorshire, the music draws influences from the other side of the moors for me when I listen to it. Opener Daylight Came is so reminiscent of Elbow it’s untrue, which in my eyes is no bad thing at all. These Walls, i’ll admit less so, but it’s a delightful little song and the least impressive of all the songs on here is Heaven Falls which is a heavier song and becomes a little tired before it ends.

Raise A Glass I can imagine Guy Garvey singing over the track with it’s beautiful piano, final song Buzzer Goes is equally as good and takes on a real playful feel to it with the trumpet breaking out. Although i’ve mention similarities to Elbow I don’t want that to detract away from a band that are clearly aiming for the stars with their music and songwriting, they have a sound of their own and I can’t wait for the album.
