Hot Hot Heat - Middle Of Nowhere

The recent Hot Hot Heat album was out at the time of our enforced downtime so I didn’t get chance to review it for the site unfortunately. My thoughts at the time were that it was a band who’s sound had moved on from the debut, things were a lot more polished, the guitars weren’t as choppy and the vocal was far more level.

Things haven’t changed that much since then to be honest, I like Elevator, it’s a nice, safe, American college radio record that manages to just maintain enough interest throughout to be deemed a success. That for me though isn’t enough after the energy and rush of the first album.

Middle of Nowhere, the second single to be taken from the album hass pretty much all the above listed faults / qualities. It certainly won’t hurt your ears, your parents are unlikely to be offended by it being on in the house, the guitars, vocals and production are all very pleasant indeed. It just lacks the edge to be what i’d call a real stand-out single.

Still you can make up your minds yourself, it’s released on the 18th July, or you can get an early play of the video in our downloads section (see the link to the right).
