The Beat Surrender

I felt the second Scissor Sisters album was a big disappointment myself, it lacked the sparkle of the first album and didn’t have the big singles to lift it up, I know I Don’t Feel Like Dancing went to number one, but I really didn’t like this track.

The area where they have always excelled though is in the live arena as they put on spectacular live shows that revel in their campness to give it an almost musical feel. So this DVD really benefits from the gig recorded at London’s O2 Arena, despite the fact that the first albums songs go down a damn sight better than the follow up it’s still a good show and will certainly please fans, particularly if you were one of those in attendance.

The extras here have moments of brilliance and others that seem so banal it’s untrue, witness the Lorraine Kelly feature with them on the Paul O’Grady Show as a prime example. My other gripe is that I Don’t Feel Like Dancing crops up way too often in these features, fine if it’s your favourite song ever released but my god they don’t half milk it on here.
