The Beat Surrender

Dragonette are a Canadian / part British electro combo who are starting to make some serious waves on the back of the NME penned ‘new-rave’ craze that seems to be sweeping the nation. I don’t actually know what the single itself is like as it doesn’t feature on this seven track promo, so instead we’ll concentrate on the remix package.

First up is the Van She Vocal Mix and Dub Mix, bothof these head down more of a techno route and come over a little basic for my liking, at this point I wondered what i’d let myself in for listening to seven on the bounce! Luckily things take a massive positive leap forward with the Ratcliffe Remix and Dub. They both do things subtely, they twinkle and shine around the glistening electro and work a treat.

The star of the show though is Arthur Baker, no real surprise to most people I would imagine! He turns in a throbbing, rocker of a remix that had my foot tapping away at my desk as I was listening to it, great stuff and well worth getting your hands on. The package is completed by the Oliver Koletski and Midnight Juggernauts Remixes which both utilise the vocals more and are both decent efforts.

The single is released on the 30th April.
