Mynas - If You Work Hard

Barnsley based three piece Mynas are Del Scott-Miller on guitar and vocals, Chris Scarfe on Bass and Steve Booth on Drums. The band got together in 2007, don’t do many gigs preferring to concentrate on recording which they appear to do in blocks of three which are then distributed around the music press. This is one way of going about building a reputation but for me there really is no substitute for building a local fan base and getting out there playing live, the feedback is instant and will help a band to grow in confidence.

Mynas play well but seem bland, to be honest, they sound like a million other bands, nothing unique to make them stand out in what is a crowded market. All three tracks on the demo (Anthony’s Brother and Morgan) sounded similar, the vocals especially reminded me a little of Mumra (who I really like) however without the sparkle.

What they need to do is to develop further but perhaps rather than just via recordings get out and play live, even offering to support for free in a local pub will do to start with.
