Timo Raisanen - I’m Indian
Timo Raisanen is hugely popular in his native Sweden, where both albums have been big successes so far for him, while I don’t see him causing a massive stir over here, I can certainly see him winning a few people over with his second album I’m Indian.
On a side note on the album cover, I couldn’t help but think he looks like a young Alex James (Blur bass player)! His Myspace page though does show this to be a one off and he’s no doppleganger of James.
Back to the music in hand and it’s a very mixed affair. It’s not an easy listen (that isn’t always a bad thing though as i’ve said before) as it veers from softly put together pieces to altogether quite rocky tracks. His vocal range is impressive but it does add to the feeling of disparity. If you can stick at it long enough it’s an album that you can grow to love, it just takes you quite a while to get there.
I’m Indian is out now through Maven Records.
