The Mojo Fins - In The Script
In centuries gone by before the age of the modern man when we fashioned buffalo fur around our groinal regions and lived in caves we probably didn’t find much time to revel in the magnificence that the world beholds and the joy it would bring us. Therefore a band such as The Mojo Fins probably wouldn’t have had much success in the music business especially since their sound is so far away from anything close to primitive.
‘In The Script’ is the second single taken from their debut album ‘The Sound That I Still Hear’. It’s a bold but gorgeous well honed track that has spine tingling qualities. It’s refreshing to hear such pure music that for a change doesn’t rely on distortion and a megalomaniac for a front man to get the message across, not that I think there’s anything wrong with that it’s just tiresome when every Tom, Dick and Harry has the same vision.
‘In The Script’ is anything but a soft touch though it still manages the rawness that is needed but it’s put across in a different way. The drumming is creatively disjointed as are the many decedent melodies that are layered on a knife edge, never completely seeming to repeat themselves but somehow invitingly similar. Vocals are the icing on the cake too, stuck somewhere between Thom Yorke and the chubby one from Keane they are quite mesmerising at times offering a very pleasant listen.
Right, back to the real world. Gotta go skin me a Rhino. . . .
