Badly Drawn Boy - Is There Nothing We Could Do?

Is There Nothing We Could Do? is not the first time that Badly Drawn Boy has made a move into soundtrack work of course, but he’s going to have to go a long way to ever better this latest effort, music that is inspired by the motion picture The Fattest Man In Britain which aired recently on TV.

He really has tapped into the emotional aspect of the programme and it comes through so well on this 42 minute soundtrack with some of the most moving lyrics he’s ever written sitting beautifully alongside acoustic guitar and stripped back piano arrangements.

It’s gripping stuff from start to finish from him with highlights like the title track, Welcome Me To Your World, Just Look At Us Now and I’ll Carry On being real highlights that stand shoulder to shoulder with the best work he’s ever produced.

With a new studio album promised for early 2010 it really does lead you nicely into that, if he can keep this form going then his new album should be an absolute peach!
