Tracey Thorn - It’s All True
Everything But The Girl frontwoman Tracey Thorn is back making music after something of a career break (I think five years raising your family is considered a career break in most industries, not sure about the music industry though).
It’s a solo project this time and with her work with her previous band and the fact that she has one of my favourite DJ / Producers on board in Ewan Pearson, then you would say the signs are promising.
Unfortunately these things don’t always work out as you would expect though. Listening to It’s All True I feel i’m stuck in some sort of eighties timewarp. Her voice is just as you would expect it to sound (always found her a bit unremarkable in that way) and the music is so disappointing. The one remix i’ve heard doesn’t add much quality to the package either, so no bonus marks for Kris Menace either.
The single is out now and is taken from the album Out Of The Woods.
