Amiina - Kurr

Hailing from Iceland, and being called Amiina it was fairly obvious from the outset that this wasn’t going to be an action packed album with loud guitars etc, don’t ask me how you can tell you just can ok!

What Kurr does do though is tap into the spacious beauty of Iceland and filter that into the music, you can imagine a documentary with water slowly dripping, frozen fjords, snow covered houses etc as the camera pans across the landscape this album plays in the background.

Background is exactly what it is, it’s been perfect as i’ve sat here typing up reviews, as a live spectacle i can’t imagine there is much to see other than quality musicianship as they pluck gently bang and blow away at various instruments. At times it’s almost like a lullaby playing in the background, if that sounds like a negative point, trust me it isn’t its all very beautifully done.

The album is out now through Ever Records.
