Kelman - Loneliness Has Kept Us Alive

I have to own up to a certain degree of bias when it comes to Kelman, as an old friend of mine has been involved in managing them. That said I have always stated when friends give me a CD to review, that I have no problem reviewing it, but that they must be ok with me being honest in my review.

This CD though was a no brainer for me as i’ve heard three or four of the tracks on Loneliness Has Kept Us Alive. It’s an eight track, thirty three minute lesson in miserabilist indie balladry and I love it. From the opening bars of Fucked And Far From Home to the closing moments of Some Things Never Work Out, it’s an album for you to wallow in.

Fans of Keane and Coldplay could do a lot worse than switching their allegience over to this band, no it won’t sell as many copies as either of their albums, but neither band has produced moments of stunning yet simplistic beauty to match these.

The album is out on the 9th October through Cargo Records.
