One-Two - Love Again
I have to say that looking at the cover of this record I expected to hate it, reading the blurb and finding out they were ‘Parisian electro poppers’ did little to add to my confidence..after all we’ve been their and done that already a thousand times with people like Daft Punk, Air and Tahiti 80, all of who’m have done it well over their respective careers.
Surely we don’t need another outfit (and another duo as well) do we?
Well i’d usually be inclined to say no, but there is an old saying that you can’t have to much of a good thing and that certainly applies to One-Two. Every track on Love Again takes the Parisian cool of the above mentioned bands and blends it beautifully with 60’s style guitar pop. It ends up with something akin to the Beach Boys or The Beatles being remixed today by somebody cool who wouldn’t just throw a dance beat in behind it. Imagine James Lavelle or James Murphy reworking those artists and you aren’t far away from what you get here.
I’m not sure they’ll get the exposure they deserve but you could certainly do worse than take a chance on this album, it’ll One-Two sucker punch your music senses for the rest of the year if you do.
Love Again is out now on Four Music.
