Rammstein - Mann Gegen Mann
This track is from Rosenrot, the latest album by Rammstein, which I have reviewed elsewhere on these pages. I’m pleased to say that Mann Gegen Mann is more of your old style Rammstein, as opposed to some of the new material from Rosenrot or Reise Reise.
It has your typical trademark Rammsteinian chorus and a decent drum roll climax ending to it. It’s not as anthemic as some of their other tracks, being a tad slow in parts, however at least its not one of their “We’re Rammstein, we can play whatever the hell we like” tracks either. It sounds like the heavy riffing Rammstein that made them so popular over here in the first place, reminiscent of some of the tracks off Mutter.
According to the hyperbolic blurb I got with the single it is an older song that the band have only just decided to use. I wonder why this is the case, perhaps this is down to some of the more unkind critics out there (for shame!) who won’t tolerate their wishy washy conceptual tracks and who have demanded a return to what they do best.
Maybe it’s as a response to a drop off in fans; I know when I went to see them a few years ago the place was packed with loads of beered up long haired types who probably wouldn’t touch them now, apart from maybe to see a few pyros going off. Whatever the reason, I hope they keep it up, and we see a return to form before I go off them completely.
