The Beat Surrender

I’d never heard of Bardo State before, a two man (Frank Wijn and Dorian Broekhuyse) outfit who have just released their debut album Mariposa.

Looking at the packaging I was thinking either electronica or World music and I wasn’t a hundred miles away with my guess as it features both elements within, the surprising addition to this is that it’s more classical based than anything else.

The three are mixed up really well and you do get a very peaceful and chilled out vibe from the album, it’s soulful and the mix of electronica and acoustic strings give it a crisp sound.

That said I have definitely heard better electronica albums this year, it’s not a bad starting point as a debut though.
