The Seal Cub Clubbing Club - May EP

Merseyside outfit The Seal Cub Clubbing Club are a band that I really do like and am really looking forward to hearing their debut album, which is apparantly fully artworked up and ready to go anytime soon.

It’s been a while since they last appeared on these pages though, to the best of my knowledge i’ve not missed anything between this release and the last EP I reviewed, so after a year or so’s break the May EP marks something of a welcome return for the band.

The EP is aptly named to coincide with the start of new life etc and the lead track (May) is certainly something of a departure from previous material. This time it starts off slowly before building up into a fantastic track that see’s riffs a plenty and a more urgent vocal.

The second track is Tin Drum which I sort of like, sort of hate, i’ve played it over and over and I can’t quite get my head around the vocal sound which is a little wailed for my liking. Still despite the odd b-side it’s good to have them back and i’m looking forward to the album now.
